This is a pair of matching cast iron antique architectural salvage pieces. These treasures are very beautiful, heavy and unique. Not sure of the exact previous purpose. I thought they could be vents from an early building.
Altgough The size and detail keep me in question. Would be hidden if installed , so the design shows on outside. Weave waffle pattern with diamond and floral in the middle. Screw holes , some even still have screws. Need a great restoration and would be beautiful.Would be nice stepping stones. In a garden as well. The inside marking of the one pictured has the number 8 the other is marked 47. It is exactly the same but a little more rusted needing cleaned. Most of the roughness should sand off. Buffing oiling cleaning possible paint if desired and installation would be beautiful in the right home /garden.
These originally came from a deserted forest along side creek in Ohio. One was stumbled upon and the match dug up. The age seems to be very early but not sure of exact date.
