Antique EARLY Pennsylvania Hand Wrought Iron Window Guard Grate. Here is an early and primitive wrought iron window guard grate.It may have also been used as a guard on a door opening grill, possibly for a jail, prison or military building. Made of all hand hammered wrought iron. Note the interesting crafting manner and the unevenness in the shape, from the primitive manner of production. Acquired in Rural Pennsylvania - American Colonial/Early American piece!

I used to live in a 500 plus year old house in Kent in the UK and we had 4 of them. One on an external gate and 3 on the house.
